Investment Week is pleased to host the second in a new series of webinars linked to our Women in Investment Awards, in association with HSBC Asset Management, focusing on helping women progress and thrive in different careers within the sector.
This webinar would be of interest to women who are in the early stages or want to build on their career in sales and distribution in the investment sector, or individuals looking to break into this area.
This discussion would also be of interest to both male and female managers of sales and distribution teams, who would like to do more to support women in their teams and encourage diverse talent.
Our panel of senior women will share the secrets of their success building a career in sales and distribution. They will highlight the opportunities for women in this area and offer some practical advice on how to tackle some of the road blocks women may face.
They will also suggest key questions for the audience to ask firms in the sector and discuss how senior sales and distribution managers can help attract and develop female talent within an inclusive environment.

Smera Ashraf is Head of Group and IFA Distribution, UK at HSBC Asset Management. Smera has been with the HSBC since 2011 where she headed up the UK CEO Office for 5 years and Client Experience team prior to that.
Smera started her career in the asset management industry at Fidelity Investments in 2002 before moving to HSBC Asset Management in 2004 working in client servicing roles. Between her two roles at HSBC, Smera worked for Raymond James Investment Services Ltd as Corporate Development Manager supporting the CEO in developing the wealth proposition in the UK.
Smera holds a bachelors in Mathematics from The University of Manchester.

Honor is responsible for LGIM’s Retail capability for EMEA. Honor joined LGIM in October 2014 from BlackRock (and its predecessor company Merrill Lynch) where she worked for nearly 15 years in London, Paris and New York. Roles included Equity Sales & Trading, Relationship Management within Global Markets and Investment Banking, Institutional Sales to Local Authority and Corporate Pension Funds and leading the team responsible for Blackrock’s relationships with private banks, stockbrokers and fund of funds. Honor holds a BSc in Business Administration with French from University of Wales, Cardiff and Pantheon – Assas, Paris.
